Greetings, batch writers and DOS helpers!
For about the last 5 years I've hanged on the internet, mainly on this forum, offering help on batch scripting related issues, as well as asking for it. Though I have always offered my help entirely for free, I have greatly benefitted from this activity, by improoving my batch skills, my english, and as well as by getting to know other people around the world.
As you might have realized, I'm no longer answering batch scripting questions directly. Since I got into the university I haven't got the time for that anymore, besides I am now dedicating myself to other programming languages. From now on, on the batch scripting field, I intend to keep myself to updating my FAQ.
I would like to thank all those who offered and are still offering help freely throughout the internet. I will not say any names, for I will certainly forget many of you, and that would be unfair. Sharing knowledge is an invaluable act, because those who you are helping today might help others tomorrow, which means the effect of your effords will be spread exponentially.
This work can be really hard sometimes, I'm sure those of you who do it have felt exploited, perhaps several times, since apparently all you get is gratitude, and sometimes not even that. On such times, try to remember everything that's behind that (perhaps) little help you're giving, remember the difference you are making.
This is my good bye to the DOS community, for now.
Long live DOS !

Please visit when you can. You will be missed until then. Enjoy learning new programming tools, so you can help others later.

Sad to see one of the well known faces leaving. I for one have learned a lot from you.
Good luck at Uni and for the future
Woof

I used to think that I was pretty good at writing batch files until I read your answers, then I realized that I had a heck of a lot more to learn. What a great aspect of humanity it is that people part with their knowledge freely to help others without ever thinking "what is in it for me".
The best of luck to you and thanks a million.

Sad while reading your post, but that turns myself back to the fabulous 1968 when I started the voiage you are keeping now...It was hard, but the challenge worth to be played.
Master your future and I am sure we meet again on the lane!

Hi Leonardo, JackG, Skip, Woof, hukre, IVO, hi everyone,Leonardo, it's a sad day as we never met on a thread as I never wrote a single word on the Dos forum though I'm very fond of batch scripting (I'm rather haunting the Win9x forum)!
I already heard about you! I adapted Delindex.bat to French and your name is written in the notes!
What a pity! I came here, on your forum because I have an issue... will you answer another question?
Good luck for U. and good luck for your future!
Have a good day,
Gérard from Paris, France

Sad to hear that Doom, but all good things come to an end. Good luck on whatever you are doing now !
Thanks,
Miskva

Just like to say thanks for everything. You helped me on alot of my problems and errors whether small or big. I'll stop now since I fear I'm getting sentimental on you, and that's just downright not me. As my friends would say, Lates.
