formatting a drive in DOS

can u just tell me what's the command to format a drive? tell me the command in DOS (MS-DOS) thanx!

format [driveletter]:
e.g.
format c:

that should do it, but you have to make sure the format.exe is on the media you've booted with

If you're going to format, add the /c switch. It re-checks sectors on the media which are currently marked as bad.

format/c c:
