Hi,I have an old pentium machine running on w95.I recently made a system disk and formatted the hard disc(about 1,5GB).After booting from A: it did not see the CD-ROM drive. I downloaded and loaded MSCDEX.exe and OAKCDROM.SYS to the start-up disk and also included the lines: Config.sys> Device a:\oakcdrom.sys/d:mscd001 Autoexec.bat> a:\mscdex/d:mscd001
Now, when I start the computer with this start-up disk it gives no errors but says incorrect dos version.

I don't think the DOS version of Command.com on the boot disk is the same as the version of MSCDEX.exe although I didn't realize MSCDEX.exe was version sensitive. Make your boot disk with all the same version, say Windows 98 files. Type VER after booting to see what Command.Com is involved.
