Then you can either use Format c: or FDISK command.

I don't agree, Ravi.
The guy asked how to FORMAT the C drive. With FDISK, he can repartition the drive. However, he would still have to format the drive in order to use it, though the data would be unaccessible. Re-partition and format are different things.
it's fine to format C: from C: and to reinstall your OS --- just so long as you have drivers loaded for your cd-rom drive and what not :) - W0rm - http://dos.li5.org

You can't format C: from C:. The format.com file must be copied to a bootable floppy, OR, another hard drive on the system and ran from there.
