I'm trying to format my d:. I startup with the windows startup disk and type format d:. All I keep getting is invalid drive specification. I try to get to the C: but it also says invalid drive specification. I have two partitions with XP and W2K server but I can only boot with XP. I don't get a dual boot menu.

Your problem may be solved by following the following procedure:

At the dos prompt type "fdisk". It will bring up a menu. By using the menu, delete all of your partitions. Then create a new primary partition. Then exit from the fdisk program and reboot your computer. Now you will no longer have a drive D:, only a drive C:. Type "format c:/u" at the prompt and it should allow you to format your hard drive. Hope that helps.
