you need a dos 6.22 boot disk
you can get it here at www.bootdisk.com
boot your computer with the disk then
type system c: and press enter then reboot with out the disk.

The command is sys c:, not system c:.

Santiago, what appears? Dos? Have you already made your hard drive bootable with a sys command?

Having formatted the HDD, it should be entirely empty unless you used the /S option to copy the system files across.
If you have the floppy's (usually 3) containg dos (I prefer version 6.??), loading the first and entering INSTALL should take you through the installation process. Alternatively maybe booting from it will do this automatically.
Good luck - keep us posted!

Use a boot disk for the O/S you will be installing and boot with it. When you get the A:\> prompt type in;

format/c c:

The /c tells it to check any sectors which are marked as bad. Some third party utilities can mark sectors as bad if they have any difficulty at all reading from them. I've re-claimed sectors this way. Call it cheap insurance.

Make sure you've saved anything you might want off of the drive beforehand.

It should. There's a possibility of a boot sector virus remaining, but that can be taken care of using fdisk. Delete the existing partition, re-create it, make it active, then reboot and perform the format after using fdisk. If you need detailed help with this, visit the HOWTOS at the left of the page. It might be under Advanced, can't remember. This will give you step by step instructions. Remember to reboot when fdisk tells you to. That "stamps" the new information to the drive.
