: Hey All!!
: Here's my problem.... I built a new machine and on boot I get the error noted above. After hitting F1 to continue it boots normal except the A: drive is not accessible. I definitly done my research and my fair share of troubleshooting. This is what I've done.
: 1.Put the "bad" floppy in a diferent machine..It works
: 2.Swapped out the cable with a known good cable..NO GO
: 3.I flipped the cables around....MANY TIMES
: 4.Check the bios, enabled "floppy check" the light lights at boot then I get the error message.
: 5.Enabled the floppy controller in the BIOS.. Still no good.
: Any other Ideas? My friend had this exact same problem but cant remember how he fixed it.

put a known good floppy (w/ known good cable) in your new machine and see if it works; if it doesn't, you _may_ have a problem with the motherboard (then again, maybe not)
i had the same problem, but it was easily fixed by making sure the cables were facing the correct direction...
also, reset the BIOS to its default values...you shouldnt have to mess with any of that to get a floppy drive to work.

Take your floppy drive and cable out and put it in another computer. 1. If it boots right, the problem is in the bios or in the floppy drive controller on the motherboard. 2. If it does not there is something wrong with the floppy drive or the cable--probably not the cable as you swapped it. (There is one caution. Your power supply is new? A failing supply can cause floppy drive problems, but in that case it usually just hangs with no error message.)
