Can't access A: drive, at bootup received disk drive failure. However, my read write light comes on and my cable are connected correctly, 1 to 1. Under explorer the disk is listed as removable disk A: drive. Under Standard Floppy Disk Controller, General Device status, This device is not present, not working properly, or does not have all the drivers installed see your hardware doc., (code 10). I have a GATEWAY 2000 P5-120, do I need to find driver for the controller?????

This sounds like a cabling problem.....make sure that the floppy cable is in the back of the drive and pushed home....also make sure the other end is in the motherboard.
If the floppy light stays on permanently the it is because the floppy (flat grey) cable is pugged in upside dowm. CHeck the orientation of the cable and motherboard/floppy connector

I want to see my pictures from a floopy disk that I got from Sears and give a message that the disk need to be formatted, I call Sears and they said they gave me the disk ready to see the pictures, but I am no sure if when I let it formatted the disk is going to erase my pictures.
Thank You
