Mike,
Yes you can delete this file in DOS.
Boot to a DOS bootdisk. type these commands. c: cd .. dir /s wsock32.dll
This will tell you where on the hard drive the file exists. cd to that directory and then delete the file.
Make sure you have a clean copy of the wsock32.dll file to replace it with as windows might not work without it.
Hope that helps, -Michael

Michael,
How do I "cd to that directory", and once I get there how do I delete it? I did what you said and on my screen it shows this, also I just restarted my computor in the dos mode, is that OK?

Obviously, you prefer the mouse. At C:\>CD \WINDOWS\SYSTEM (enter) At C:\Windows\System>DEL Wsock32.DLL (enter) Now you will need to copy a good copy of the file into the \system directory. For you the best way is START>Programs>ACCESSORIES>SYSTEM TOOLS> System Information. Click the tools tab. Select System File Checker. Pick the second choice extract one file from the CD.
