File Access through USB port

Comment:
Need to transfer large files (>400mb) to an IBM Thinkpad 560Z. One of them is the install files of Windows 2000.
Can I access a Windows 2000 (or XP) CD-rom drive through a USB cable to the Thinkpad with PC DOS? Or maybe copy the files from disc to harddisk?

Not with a USB cable as far as I know. Both LapLink Gold & FastLynx 3 only use the USB port in 32bit transfers on Windows 98/Me/NT4/2000/XP PC's with USB 1.1 or 2.0 enabled (95B was USB 1.0)
For 16bit Windows to DOS transfers you need to use the Parallel (Data Cable) or Serial (Null Modem Cable) Option.
For a free DOS version of FastLynx or details of the Windows version plus cables see:

Not true! There are many DOS USB drivers for accessing CD-ROMs and USB hard drives. Visit http://www.stefan2000.com/darkehorse/PC/DOS/Drivers/USB/ for more details.

We all know there are many DOS drivers for USB Mass Storage drives, but there is NOT any free USB driver for USB cable!
