Fdisk Parse Error 9

My primary hard drive has two partitions. The one partition is my C: drive and the other is not shown altho one time I saw *: as an identification.
I made complete a backup and then wanted to delete the partions so there would only be one partion. I tried reformating, but only reformated the C: partition. I then tried to use Fdisk to get the hard drive back to one partition. However I get Parse 9 error and am not able to get beyond the point.
Can you tell me what is wrong or is there an easier way to get my C: drive back to one partition?

Fdisk sometimes gets confused with multiple and/or "strange" partitions. I recommend getting a PartionMagic boot disk or something that will pretty much set it up exactly the way you want it easily.

Download and copy to a boot disk the program delpart.exe.Boot your computer, run the program to delete all partitions. The program is fairly intuitive and has a graphical interface to guide you.Reboot the computer and use your regular fdisk to make one C primary set active partition. Reboot and format the drive to install the operating system of your choice. http://www.dewassoc.com/support/useful/boot_disks.htm Good luck.
