I believe the file your looking for is 'Himem.sys'. Pop your windows CD into your drive and type:

extract /l c:\windows\command d:\win98\base5.cab himem.sys

that's if your drives are c: and d:

Oh ya, that will overwrite your current 'Himem.sys' in your 'Command' folder, if it's there.

You can even just click on 'base5.cab' in your Windows Explorer, right click on 'himem.sys' and choose the destination folder.

The error message I get on boot is:

Following file missing or corupt
c:\windows\Highmem.sys
There is an error on config.sys line 3
Emm386 not installed-xmsmanager not present
Press any key when ready

I have the himem.sys file loaded already.

This is my config.sys file:

DOS=HIGH
DOS=UMB
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIGHMEM.SYS
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.exe RAM
DEVICEHIGH=C:\CDROM\OAKCDROM.SYS /D:MSCD000

any Ideas???

It's HIMEM.SYS not "HIGHMEM.SYS"

*spelling counts*

emm386.exe depends upon himem.sys being successfully loaded - correct your spelling and the error messages should.... disappear!

btw - you can combine the DOS line:

DOS=HIGH,UMB

- makes no difference, just neater *g*

'later
