I'm trying to play Might And Magic and no matter how I try to get into DOS(and this includes on another older 233mhz comp running Win 98) it keeps saying I need more expanded memory, I have tried some boot disks. Also that No Compression one for Win 98 but it hasn't worked. What can I do? Any help would be much appreciated!

XP has no MSDOS and your best bet is "DOS BOX"

W98 you need to change the properties (right click) of the SETUP file to allocate memory compatible to what the software requires.

MSDOS 6.22 is easier, install the O/S, then run MEMMAKER then providing you have setup the Sound Card there is a 99% chance the game will run. Though if you get a divide overflow error 200, it means the PC is too fast for the game.

"that No Compression one for Win 98 "

Not sure what that is, but you don't require a bootdisk to start in DOS on a 98 machine - it has its own DOS. You can either adjust the settings for using DOS from Windows (as described above) or else start in DOS by using the F8 key to invoke the startup menu.

In DOS, expanded memory can be emulated in 98 by setting up the expanded memory manager in c:\config.sys

DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.exe RAM
DOS=HIGH, UMB

If you do run the game from a DOS start, you likely will need to setup your mouse, soundcard and possibly CD-ROM to function in DOS

Tech Support: "I need you to boot the computer."

Customer: THUMP! Pause. "No, that didn't help."

Yeah well now I just use DOSBox(I had that then but was unsure of how to use it until recently) and it's fine.
Thanks everyone for the help.

Sure - that'd be your best bet with XP.

Thanks for the update.
