Hi,
When I start up my , Tandy 1000 TX ,
it displays memory , the bios , and then it displays "Insert System Diskette and Press any key when ready" I can try any boot disk on a low density 720k disk and then it will read it and display , "Non - System Disk or Disk Error Replace disk and press any key when ready". I currently have not found anything that will boot it , if anyone knows of anyway to boot it or any boot disk that may boot it please tell me. I would really like to get this old machine running. It is a 80286 , 720k 3 1/2' Floppy , and a 360k 5 1/2' Floppy , Hard Drive ? , Memory 640k. I have found out also that radio shack is no help to Tandy users anymore or at least not to me.
Original OS : MS DOS 3.2
Thanks,
Tim Wilson

Have you been to this Tandy page? Lots of info.
Your FDD might be proprietary - according to the abovementioned FAQ, some models used their own unique cabling, where the power was supplied to the FDD along the data cable - so replacing the drive may not be so easy after all.
It might just be dirty - there are cleaning kits, or you might even try some compressed air - hard to say if that would be effective or not.If you can work with (or even find) 5¼" floppies, you might be able to make use of bboot and try booting from the other drive.
If you're lucky enough, the HDD might be IDE standard - then you could work on it in another machine.
Tandy's are... peculiar, a lot like the old PCjrs - hope you have some luck with this.
Might even check with the folks at the Obsolete Computer Helpline.

Not necessarily - I've got a few 286 PCs with IDE built-in. Any 16 bit machine can run the controller card - only the XT class couldn't use IDE by design.
As listed in the Tandy FAQ in the link above:
"The RSX's have a built-in AT IDE interface. You can get those drives anywhere."
