my computer runs winme, it doesn't startup correctly, what happens is it goes through the normal startup procedures then it gives me the option to start in normal, safe, or stepbystep mode. when i hit any of the option my screen flashes blew for one second and then gives the ready to shutdown message and shuts downs, i can boot into dos using my startup or winme disk and my harddrive is still intact but nothing else, i noticed when i did step-by-step it shutdown because it was unable to load the user.exe file, i did a search and wasn't able to find that file i did have a password on the computer, i tried extracting the file from both the diskette and cd but it couldn't find it, and when i type 'win' on the c prompt for my harddrive with the boot disk I get: error occurred when initializing device FSMGR The Microsoft Installable file System Manager cannot find the helper driver. Please ensure that the IFSHLP.sys has been installed can anyone help me?

The problem is that no Windows since 3.11 will load after you boot from a floppy unless Win ME might. Unless you've used Microsoft tech support more than three months ago on that OS, you can get Microsoft to straighten the problem out for you for nothing. 1-(425)-635-3311. You could also install ME into itself, and the setup program would probably correct the problem without changing any of your settings.
