Subject: emachine audio dos driver |
Comment: I bought 2 emachines T1220(WinXP) for my children's school that are needed to run school programs. I need to know where I can get an audio driver for dos that will run on these machines or any tricks anyone knows to do this. I made a boot to dos disk to get the program to run - but can't get the sound to work. Please help - school starts Tuesday! Thanks.

Reply: (edit)You need to find what sound card or chip the machine is using. Then try to find a DOS driver.

Reply: (edit) There was a technical support phone number on your registration card. Call eMACHINES on this or access HTTP://www.e4me.com/techsupport

Reply: (edit)Hi Patti. XP doesn't support dos sound but I found a website that has instructions as well as a link to a program that will allow you to get sound.
http://www.minnemacs.com/manyhighways/sandbox/xp.html
The program is located near the center of the page and is called VDM Sound.
Take care,
Linda
