Comment: Please help. I just got my soundcard in I bought off of Ebay. It is an old soundblaster Isa Card dated 1991. It did not come with a manual or anything. I downloaded the dos soundblaster drivers from Creative. Anyway when I started the Install it said, "Wrong base I/O address or Audio card not detected at 220h. Factory default setting is 220h. If you need to use an address other than 220h, you can change the jumpers configuration on the audio card" How do I do this & why want it take the default settings that the driver disk suggested? I am new at this.

Reply: (edit)Hello Tori. To fix this problem take out the sound card and look for a diagram or referance chart on the card for IRQ settings. If its not there then go to Google and search for the IRQ settings. Hope this helps.

Reply: (edit)Ok, will someone be kind enough to help me on this one step by step if possible. I have pulled out the board & am looking at it. I think I found the jumpers. Going down on one side it looks to say Irq1, irq2, irq3, irq5 & irq7. On the other side it says jp3,jp4, jp5, jp6, jp7. There is a black looking rubber deal on jp3 that can slide off so you can put it on another jumper to change settings, I guess. On irq5/jp6 there is another black rubber deal on it. Can someone tell me what to do next to change settings. P.S. On the top left side of the card it has jp1 & jp2 & on the other side it has 24x& 22x.

Reply: (edit)It sounds like jp1 and jp2, if they correspond to the 24x and 22x, are the jumpers you use to set the i/o port. Set the jumper (connected to both pins) on one to see if it's accepted. If not, try the other one.

Reply: (edit)Thanks I will try it but before I do I made a mistake. What I thought was Irq 1 it actually says Drq1. There is no IRQ1. I had to get my flashlight to see the fine print. Does that make a difference. There is no place to set a jumper on that one. Then it goes irq2,3,5, & 7. There is also a rubber deal over 22x.

Reply: (edit)The Drq could be a typo, but I don't know. As for the rubber thing, again I don't know. Is there a jumper there as well? You might want to contact the person you won the bid from to get an explanation.

Reply: (edit)Tori, You may be able to find your soundblaster card here. http://asia.creative.com/support/specs/sound/ Choose one of the links from the Webpage according to your card-I am guessing it is one of the first 2. SB/SBPro Family SB 16 Family SB 32/AWE32 Family SB AWE64 Family SB PCI Family SB Live! Family On the next Web page choose the CTxxxx number that should be on your card-similar to one of the model numbers below CT1730 - Sound Blaster 16 CT2239C - Sound Blaster 16 CT2749 - Sound Blaster 16 CT1740 - Sound Blaster 16 CSP CT2230C - Sound Blaster 16 CSP CT2740 - Sound Blaster 16 CSP Then next page should show the jumper settings for your card-print this page if you double click the graphic of the card you will get a bigger view of it that you can download or print. Good Luck

Reply: (edit)Thanks DR, I looked on the card & it says Sound Blaster CT1350B. I looked on the site & could not find my brand. I guess it is too old & unsupported. If anyone has a manual on this card or a web page with jumper settings let me know. Thanks for everyones help.

Reply: (edit) Those black deals are the jumpers. They jump electricity from one prong to the other. You have IRQ 5 jumped. It or 7 are good choices. If there is no jumper position for 220h, it may be that it has to be installed in the config.sys. Clean the contacts on the card as that could be another reason the installation program does not detect it.

Reply: (edit)Of course, Creative had to reorganise their site and trash all this useless old info. Have a look at the WayBack machine: http://web.archive.org/web/20011005100336/asia.creative.com/support/specs/sound/sb16/
