Dual boot on two primary partition

I have my PC running with XP and Dos dual boot.i installed XP on top of DOS which is a primary partition. it automatically created an logical drive and installed everything on that. its working fine. but i want to have primary partition instead of logical drive. whether it will work. please reply me. one more Dos is on FAT and XP is on NTFS partition.
