I have an NEC laptop that has its drives mixed up. The hdd is A, while the fdd is C. A friend tried installing a CD writer onto it, and now we cannot boot to Windows 95 at all, it simply comes up with a blank screen. We tried a boot disk, but when we start the computer with the floppy in the drive, the computer just hangs after the memory check. Any ideas please?

Laptops can be very tricky because so much of the machine is proprietary. It really is in your best interest to take the laptop into a certified dealer or repair shop and have them straighten things out.
