I have ran into a problem with DOS, WIN98SE, and TCP/IP print servers. The problem begins with the DOS based program. The WIN98SE machines must be booted into a "true" dos session, in order for this DOS based program to function. Once in a "true" dos session, network connectivity is lost, due to the lack of network protocols/NIC drivers, etc.. The users must beable to print to TPC/IP print servers, spooling on a NT 4.0 box. Any suggestions for printing from a "true" dos session using the WIN98SE O/S to TCP/IP print servers??? Please post and email me @ chrisb009@hotmail.com. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Have you tried creating a DOS boot disk for your network card? If you do that, then copy the proper lines from the autoexec.bat and config.sys to the config.sys and autoexec.bat on the hard drive, you should be able to get a network session through DOS.

I use this method to reimage machines on my corporate network all the time.

Partition Magic 6.0 has a dos boot disk builder made specifically for this.

Altiris makes Rapid Deploy, which does this too.
