Greetings
I'm an old DOS user and want to get back into it and use my hardware (that is getting slow and clogged with windows 2k. I will zap windows off the disk. Have 800Mhz and 4 Gig.

Main requirements?: A Browser, email, good ftp and txt editor. Don't need GUI aprt from the browser I guess.

I know everybody has favourites...but can you please recommend a good free version to get going on again?

Regards
John

Arachne GPL for Web Browsing (free)
MS Word 5.5 for Word Processing (free)
Fprot for Virus Software (free)

Or if you want commercial software that's still viable and available

Wordperfect 6.2 for Word Processing
Norton Commander 5.5
Norton Utilities 8.0 DOS
Microsoft Bookshelf 1991
