Hi, everyone. I remember getting a program on the Internet before that someone wrote to change the volume while in pure DOS using a Soundblaster card, a Soundblaster 16, I believe, or at least I think that was one of the ones it worked with. Anyway, I'm trying to find that file again, but I can't seem to find it. I think it was called "Sound Volume Control," and I remember the guy explaining that you could get to it while in DOS by typing, "svc", in the command line.
Does anyone here know which program I'm talking about and know where I can get it? I would sooo much appreciate it.
If no one here knows what program I'm talking about, then could someone please at least tell me where I can get *some* kind of program or drivers to adjust the volume on a Soundblaster 16 while in pure DOS? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance if anyone helps me with this.

Most driver downloads should include Volume setting software, though quite often Games etc have Volume adjustment accessible from the Options menu.
I think you can use the Volume software from CMedia as standalone if setup manually, try:

While the utility SVC.exe may have been provided with SoundBlaster Cards. Be very careful when searching for it.
There is a 32bit version that is a virus.
Process File: svc or svc.exe
Process Name: Svc
Description: Hijacker, Clientman parasite variant, redirecting to madfinder.com. Detected by Symantec as the MADFIND virus.
Company: N/A
System Process: No
Security Risk ( Virus/Trojan/Worm/Adware/Spyware ): Yes
Common Errors: N/AIt is hamless under DOS & Win3x, But not if exercuted under Windows 9x/NT/XP (even when at Command Prompt) which most people may use to try and find it!
Please reply with a message to let us all know we are on the right track...

Hi, everyone. First I'd like to say thank you to you both for taking the time to respond. I appreciate that.
I went to those sites you told me about, 4004, but I haven't tried the programs yet since I'm still using this computer that's running Windows XP Home Edition. I'm gonna try to be getting a Dell laptop soon, an Inspiron 8500, and I'm gonna reformat the drive and use the Windows 98 CD I have to put Windows 98 on it so that I can have DOS, and then I'm gonna set it so that DOS comes up when it's booted up instead of having it go straight to Windows, 'cause if I want to go to Windows for anything, I know how to type "win" in the command line and push enter. But anyway, I'll have to wait 'til then to try those programs, I guess. In the meantime, in case those programs end up not working for whatever reason, if anyone else knows of any programs or drivers or whatever to adjust the volume while in pure DOS, please let me know.
Unfortunately, I just found out today that the laptop I'm getting, which is not brand-new and therefore already built, has the sound card intergrated, which means I can't change it like I was planning to do. That means I'm gonna have to find out what sound card it's got in it and try to find DOS drivers for that, which I have a bad feeling I won't be able to find since all the new stuff nowadays has forgotten about good old DOS. ....Well, I guess maybe I'll try to find someone who's good at programming who wouldn't mind to write a DOS volume-adjusting program for the sound card it has if I pay 'em something for it. ...I don't know... That just really irritates me that it's "intergrated." What a stupid thing to do... ...Oh, and by the way, whoever's idea it was to slowly get rid of all things DOS needs to be dragged out to the street and shot. Ooh! That irritates me!
[sighs]... But anyway... ....Well, like I said, thank you, you two, for taking the time to answer me. I really appreciate that.
