Hello All, I have a Compaq 486 that has a SB 16 SCSI Value soundcard/combo SCSI AHA-151X controller built into it that runs a 2X SCSI CDRom drive. After lot's of trial and error I found drivers for everything but the soundcard. It says CT1770 on it as well as SB 16 SCSI Value. I'm running DOS with Win 3.1, but as yet I haven't figured out which driver to get for the soundcard. I found one set of drivers at driversguide, but at the final 1 or 2% of installation it prompted me for a file: VoiceAssist that wasn't with the distribution and I don't think my card can run it anyway. Any help with the correct driver or sympathy is always appreciated!
I will try that, thanks. I wanted to add that I went to the Adaptec website and downloaded 3 files that were supposed to work for this card: the sbbasic.exe(threw a 2088 error during install), sb16scsi.zip (went through 99% of the install and then asked for a VoiceAssist file on a disk I didn't have in the distribution) and then sbdw3up.exe (which installed, but doesn't work). I was going to try sb16full.zip. I would prefer to get the full driver if it's possible. The sb16scsi.zip files looked the most promising as it had the CDRom drivers that worked with it as well, so if anyone has experience with this set of drivers or has VoiceAssist I would appreciate getting a copy so I can complete the install. Thanks, James
includes 3 zipped files. I think the second one, 16SCSI02.zip, is the dos setup disk. Download the single file, unzip it to show the 3 files and then unzip the second one to a floppy disk. Run the install.exe file from it. That should be all you need to do.
I have the same type disks from a slightly newer version that uses that disk to set up the dos configuration. I would send you that one but the install.exe file is corrupted.
Well, I fiddled with the disk I have and afterwards was able to access the install.exe file. So I went ahead and emailed you a disk image with instructions.
I have the other disks for the card labeled:
Text-to-Speech Applications Disk Accessories Disk Program Disk (for something called 'Assist') HSC InterActive Program Disk Adaptec EZ-SCSI Drivers
But the one I sent should be all you need for dos setup.
