I purchased the PC Magazine DOS Power Tools
book in the late '80s and have lost track
of the disk. I am now teaching a DOS
command line class at a local JC and would
really like to have access to the utilities that came with this book. Can anybody help me out?

An excellent book - unfortunately my original floppy suffered some damage - was there a particular utility you were looking for? Most are available in one form or another

Hi Tom
I have the 2nd edition which as 3 5-1/5" disks its the same book by the same author Paul Somerson but published by Bantam Computer Books and was revised to cover DOS 5.0.
I've already transfered these to 3 1/2" disks. I could email them to you in a zip file.

Hi gang.

Yeah, great books. I bought the early and the late. Disks long gone.

Most of 'em are here:

DOS Power Tools

Many thanks to Dan Penny.

I'm pretty sure (ok, positive actually) that Dan's version is not the same set of goodies that I recall - as useful & interesting as they may be

Hi jboy,

I'm sure you're right.

I didn't mention it when I got what I got from Dan because I didn't want to seem ungrateful.

One thing I missed was SLICE.

Finally found it on a ftp site.

Oh, I'm sure Dan would understand.

I don't have ready access to my (insanely large) collection of 5ΒΌ" or the book at the moment, but there were some fairly unique little tools in that collection - some I still find useful.

Tracked down a few updated versions online over the years - it's that, buy the book, or check out dtech's offer

Hi folks, thanks for all of the replies.

dtech10, I would love to take you up on the offer of a zipped email. My email is:

Mechanix2Go, I grabbed the file off of your site.
Somethings never go out of style, and these utilities fall into that category.
Take care,
-TT

Tom - - your email is linked (securely) to your name here. Posting it openly as you have is not generally recommended and defeats the purpose of filling out that field in the first place
