Has anyone managed to do a successful computing net login with arachne?if so, how?
i was trying to log in as i want to ask if anyone knows of a dos menuing system along these lines...
All i need to do is use it to select programs, i dont need all the other stuff that seems to be included in all the ones ive seen to date- i did find one some time ago that had a nice 3d appearance and didnt take up the full screen, leaving the prompt free ( i have a lot of info at my prompt that i like to be able to see- so , ideally, it would be a 3d look, not full screen, and basic program selection only.
ive been looking for months , but the few times ive found something along these lines the file was corrupted , or the site couldnt be accessed.
Does anyone know of something along these lines?
Thanx in advance...

Arachne as far as I am aware does not support the type of authentication software used by Computing.net or Yahoo or Hotmail etc, hence why I laso use NT4 in a dual boot.
Pure DOS is single tasking, but there is software to enable task switching.
There is considerable amount of software listed at www.mwpms.uklinux.net, as well as links to other sites, the links are readily checked, so may find something to suit your purposes!

Thanx- ill pop back over there and see if i overlooked anything- i did actually see the perfect menu once on a page dedicated to such ( an approx 8"x6" 3d menu console) but i think the link was bad...
You'd think arachne labs woulda also made allowances for logins of this type, seeing as they accept cookies and their html is up to date- then again, theres some strange oversights in its design- carried over to their web page, i might add, as it gives me this "your version of arachne is old" when in fact its 3 weeks "out of the box"- most sites dont even have ver. 171ue yet, but you'd think arachne's would :)

Have geos, like it,been using it since i first got a pc- (1x to 3.2a)
was my first pc gui, in fact.
I have been considering using something along the lines of 2x as a launcher menu, if all else fails...

You might want to try using Microsoft's DOSSHELL as your launching utility... It's has a launcher, file manager and can do task swapping also...
Other alternatives are DOSStart, Quick Menu III, Desktop2, or any of the millions of Norton Commander clones...
I usually recommend DOSStart or Desktop2.

Normally, my backup has always been the (admittedly very ugly) Dosshell.
Ive got a weird prob with it tho- after cloning my original C:\ drive to my other c: drive ( i was researching a lot of apps and didnt want to mess up my main windows installation)
dosshell freezes whenever i try to exit it, the menu displays "no title!" , assosiations dont work, and the options dont work- Windows runs fine on that partition (oddly enough, its the only partition that i didnt get a dll error from mosaic 211 browser, despite it being identical in every respect at the time to my other windows311 partition) and all the dos apps run normally, except for dosshell.
Have tried all except desktop 2- all have more options than i want- some are nice tho
Like windos cause i can see zipfiles, but the desktop addition wont take new icons??
using the packard bell interface now cause its simple and fast, but its still not what im really looking for....
