We have a DOS only machine, not on the network,that has no CD Rom and is infected with the Nyb virus and seems to be causing some problems. We have no option but DOS and I am having no luck finding a DOS virus scanner/program. Especially one that fits on one 3.5 floppy. Any suggestions are appreciated as we use this machine to collect data for the state of Alaska. Thanks.

Alternatively, you can also remove it this way: 1. Insert an uninfected, write-protected, bootable DOS disk, which also contains the FDISK program, into the floppy disk drive. Then restart the computer. 2. Type the following, and then press Enter: fdisk /mbr 3. Remove the disk and restart your computer. I have also had the "honor" of being infected with the NYB virus, and it's a very prolific bug. Unfortunately you're going to have to determine if you have any other infected floppies (and it's likely you do), otherwise your computer will eventually contract the virus again later on (as happened to me on multiple occasions).

I was just infected recently with this virus & got rid of it with Dr. Solomons Antivus. The boot disk ridded my pc from it after scanning the pc for viruses before installing the antivirus program. If you want me to zip the boot disk up & send it to you let me know. infusion_70@yahoo.com
