I know there are a lot of DOS internet browsers out there, but most of them are for dial-up. I just got high-speed cable internet service and cut off my AOL account. Is there DOS internet software that will allow me to use a 3-COM net card or something? I just want to see if I could get a 386 or 486 on the net-kind of a side project. Any advice?

Firstly internet enabled LAN has been supported for many years, providing you have just a Packet Driver for the NIC. The following browsers still in developement are Arachne and DOSLynx which both support obtaining an IP address from a DHCP server or manually,

Though wether or not your connection will work with DOS web browsers depends on type of connection and modem.
Here in the UK I have a British Telecom ADSL enabled phone line and utilise a combined modem/router which acts a DHCP server and NAT therefore my DOS PC's can access the internet. Though the modem/router had to be setup with a M4 Windows PC.
Lots of info on the WWW, but first and foremost it depends on type of connection/modem and maybe wether PPoA or PPPoE protocol is used by your ISP.

Nevermind - I decided to search for any active BBS's still in service and I actually found a few near me. That's close enough for now.
