DOS game problems

Comment:
I am trying to play a older DOS game (Silent Hunter) on my 500 Pen256/ram box and get a "mouse not installed eE020" error during the boot up, then back to C:\. What is the best way to get DOS based games to work on WIN 98 systems?

Old games and/or applications occasionally will not run on later hardware and/or os, or there will be quirks when they do.
This is to be expected, because later systems emulate the earlier ones and there are inconsistancies.
For example I have a game that will not run because there is too much memory (would you believe) and also my old word processor does not output graphics.
Depending on the problem, there are various cures. You can try to obtain the latest version of the program concerned or rather than run dos under windows, run the pc in dos mode.
Good luck - keep us posted.

Go half-way down the page to "I want a mouse in DOS".
It has links to DOS mouse drivers as well as instructions.
