Hello, I was wondering if there was a DOS FTP client. I'm guessing there isn't. I'm not talking about being in DOS while running Windows, I'm talking about just plain old DOS. Thank you!

One of my favourite subjects, because the answer involves installing a text-only browser called Minuet. It requires that you have a Watcom SLIP dial-up or network card packet driver installed, I imagine you guessed that. And your send\recieve directory must be a subdirectory of Minuet, no sending files from any old place. These restrictions aside, it is the closest thing to WS_FTP you will find in the DOS world. Arachne Web Browser has an internal FTP client, but if you have used it you know it has a mind of its own.

Thank you very much for the suggestion but I'm not so sure that this is what I'm looking for. I'm trying to write a batch file for a computer on an ethernet connection. What I'd like it to do is boot to DOS, connect to an FTP server, download a file, and quit all automatically. Any other ideas? Thank you so much

Well, the Watcom FTP client for Arachne can be used form the command line complete with variables (switches). I am about to go to bed now, but I will see what I can cook-up in the morning. Yawn. Stay tuned.

To do this you must install a Packet Driver for your network card. The package I have for you contains the command line FTP client, the WATTCP.CFG file in which you must enter you IP information. You can get the info by typing WINIPCONFG or IPCONFIG (Depending on your Windows version in a windows DOS box. Also, a sample .SCR file which is an automated script file for FTP and Help.txt which contains all of the FTP commands you can enter in a script. The .CFG and .SCR files can be edited with Notepad or DOS Edit. Please read the FTP.DOC first to get yourself aquainted with the FTP program. I have also included Ping so you can test your connection.

WATTCP FTP
