Comment: Hi, I had to re-format laptop due to crash. Made win98 boot disk from desktop. Can get to DOS. Cdrom is external teac 10x porta cd. Pcmmia card is teac, with ver 1.1 driver. Problem is that boot disk cannot install cdrom because pcmmia support not included in boot disk. Every time I try to install drivers for cdrom I get error message saying "card service not installed, please install the card service before use". I have checked this whole BB, Dell, Teac websites for how to install a PCMMIA cdrom in DOS, but have not found anything, closest thing I found was a reference on Dell about CardSoft device driver Con Utility, but could not find same. Thanks for any help.

Reply: (edit)This sounds like a Windows 98 Problem. I would also try there.. You need to load Windows PCMCIA Card Support, Plus the driver that you should have for the CD Card.

Reply: (edit)Mick, Thanks for the imput, but it's not an OS problem, only because I can't load any OS onto system. I know I need PCMMIA card support, But that's in win98,win95,etc, I can't access that to get PCMMIA support I need to enable cdrom support. I need PCMMIA card support for DOS to access OS on cdrom, but I don't know of any drivers that enable PCMMIA in DOS. Maybe somebody out there has an idea where to find drivers. Appreciate your imput. Thanks, Bud Z

Reply: (edit)In that case have you looked on DELL Support Site @ http://www.dell.com/us/en/gen/default.htm If your DELL has builtin PCMCIA Slots. This site should have support for it.. you do not say which model number you have, let me know, and I will try to track it down for you.
