Comment: I have a server with windows nt, and 9 workstations in dos, everything works fine except I keep getting on all workstations "dos error 53- network path not found" it only lasts for a couple of seconds and disapears for a while and then it will show back up. I just can't seem to find a solution for this problem can someone please help.

Reply: (edit)Could be collisions on your network segment.... Just a guess though.. I've connected DOS machines to NT servers without a problem in the past, but it's never more than one a time and only to perform maintenance on a windows machine. It sounds like you have a drive mapped to a network share and you lose total connection to the network for that instant. Also one of your network cards could be 'chatty'. Which is a card that sends broadcasts over the segment when it isn't supposed to. Try powering down all the machines, then power them up and log them in one at a time. Don't power any of the remaining machines on until you are sure you don't get the network path not found message. When you're sure it's not that PC with the chatty card, move on to the next one. Keep repeating this process until (hopefully) you find the chatty card. Also you maybe overloading your segment. If you have a hub only, you may consider upgrading it to a switch.
