Hi, hope someone can help me here. We have an application that only runs under DOS (ver 6.2) The printer that has always been used has finally expired and as a result we are going to use a spare HP 5L printer. The only trouble is I can't find a DOS driver for this printer, other than the ones for Wordperfect or Lotus. The application isn't a mainstream product so I'm hoping to find a generic driver of some sort rather than an application specific driver. Any help would me much appreciated.
You say it all in your own post. Printer Drivers under MS-DOS are Application Specific. Try and contact publisher/writer of program or tryout other printer drivers with that application, it maybe that one works, even if it has a differant name. HPL is one of the 'universal' printer types, and the HP5L recognises it. Cannon & Lexmark use it as well. Hope this helps.
Summary: Thier are no DOS Drivers for HP Deskjet Printers. DOS Programs such as Word WordPerfect had HP Drivers built-into programs. You can still get Windows 3.1 Drivers for HP500 at: http://www.hp.com/cposup...
