Reply: (edit)Sounds like your command file is corrupt, or the wrong version.

Reply: (edit) Check that you have the version of command.com that matches your operating system- If you have windows 95 try pressing F8 while the machine still hasn't loaded Windows (at about the time you see something like Verifying DMI Pool Data at the bottom of your screen), then select Safe Mode Command Prompt Only from the boot menu. If the command.com loads reporting version Windows 95, then chances are you have the right command processor installed. Add a line to the beginning of your Autoexec.bat that reads: SET COMSPEC=C:\COMMAND.COM reboot, then see if that solves the problem. And make sure you have a copy of Win95 command.com in your root (C:\) directory!

Reply: (edit)Confused about the error message you are getting.... Bad or Missing Command Interpreter can be cured by starting pc with a boot disk and typing sys c: at the prompt. Bad Command Check Line Number ~ refers to a mistake in Config.sys;open config.sys with notepad and count lines until you get to the one mentioned in the error message and type rem before it (leave a space between rem and the rest of the line) and see if that gets rid of the error message without any further problems.

Reply: (edit)Hi yall, well it seems my command.com is bad. I messed up my brothers dos disk, so I then got a couple of dos 6.22 from the internet.None of them seem to work right. I fdisk, rebooted, formatted and proceeded on with windows 95. So now I cannot add a new program without getting the same message error in the command line. Gosh I'm stuck. I left my sister's computer messed up. Steve I did sys c: and lost everything. If anyone can come up with anything or even a good working dos link, man I would love it.Many many thanks
