Dos command MSG

does anyone have any experience in using MSG in dos? I think its a recent decelopment from NET SEND, but possibly only available for XP Pro.
I'm only able to send myself a message, and only by using my windows login name or * as parameters, i'm still confused about the server and the domain. Can anyone give me examples? thanks!
