I am trying to use the undelete command in DOS but only ever get Bad Command msgs as with most commands I try in DOS. The only ones I seem to be able to get to do anything is DIR and EXIT could somebody tell me what I am doing wrong. I have a book entitled MS-DOS 6 explained am I using msdos 6 or are all the cmds in this book useless.

Many of the MS-DOS 6x commands have been removed from Windows 95 onwards.
From the MS-DOS Resources Page MS-DOS 6.22 Supplemental Files: SUP622.EXE MS-DOS 6.22 Supplemental Files - Including DosShell
Windows 95 Supplemental Files: OLDDOS.EXE MS-DOS 7.0 Supplemental Files (For Win9x Includes UNDELETE, INTERLINK, MEMMAKER, DOS HELP & Others)
Hope this is of help.
PowerLoad Link as always is at the top of my message. I never provide direct links because I feel that all visitors should come via the front door.

As Mick C stated, those commands are gone after DOS 6.x. In your post heading you indicate Win98 as your O/S, yet in the body of your text you say you're using Dos 6.x. Is this on another machine, or on your Win98 machine? Win98 is Dos7.x, therefore the commands are non-existant, which is why you get the Bad Command error message.
