I hope this question is DOS-y enough for this
list! ;-)We are trying to print from DOS CD-ROM programs (various 1990 U.S. Census discs)on our new PCs, Compaq Deskpro 5100,100 MHz, running Windows 95, via LPT1 to HP 6p printer. We get a device conflict error message that Windows and [the disc's program] are both trying the use the LPT1 device.
The error message toys with us, saying we can choose which one of them we want to use the printer, but no matter which choice is made, another printer error message comes up, and nothing prints.
The usual suspects (right printer, port, etc.) have been cleared. The same problem appears on all 3 PCs/HP printers we're using.
Many thanks for suggested work-arounds to using old DOS discs with Windows 95, or for
referrals to another list, if that's thought
a better forum.

Hi,
It's happens sometimes with DOS application. Try to remove printer in Win95 and then install it anew ansewring Yes to the question about DOS Printing.
Good luck, Igor M

Hi Igor,
Thank you for your good advice! Our printers
are now working with the DOS government docu-
ment CD-ROMs. You have made many library
patrons happy and have possibly saved staff
lives. :-)
Nancy
