I've got a DOS application on an XP computer. I just bought a HP Photosmart 1315 printer. The printer prints from Window Apps..but not from the DOS application. It did print fine with my previous HP printer (1220C) but it broke and I had to replace it with this new 1315 model...HP won't support the 1315 anymore, so I need help desperately...Any ideas..Is there a setting somewhere to get DOS to print??

Well, my guess is that your printer is connected via USB. If it also has a parallel port connector, and your computer has a parallel port, you might try connecting it with that, I don't know how USB does anything under DOS, but I have seen printers work connected to the parallel port, but you might need a driver...

This is a little wild, but you might try getting a DOS emulator and running it under that instead...some emulators have plugins that allow you to access Windows devices (like printers or soundcards)from "DOS" in the emulator.
But then again, maybe not. That's the only thing I can suggest.

I heard of some people having success using a driver program called DosPrint (http://www.geocities.com/DOSPrint/)
Also if you have problems with DOS print job being delayed you can try one of the following which I have used successfully
1) in REGEDIT ( START->RUN-> REGEDIT )
click : Hkey_local_machine
then click : System
then click : CurrentControlSet
then click : Control
somewhere at the bottom of the control list Click: WOW
in LPT_timeout property change it to 2 (seconds)2) Go to SYSTEM.INI file
in [386enh] section search [Network] if it does not exist enter the following :[Network]
PrintBufTime=10
[IFSMGR]
PrintBufTime=10this will reset the wait to 10 seconds
