well you would first type in at the command prompt anarche.exe and the program takes you from there of course you will need a modem"NOT A WINMODEM" and you need to know your isp phone number and dns and stuff.. basically set it up...and it is not a new program, been around for about 4 years. www.stimtel.net (I think a sharewrare site) www.davecentral.com www.powerload.com www.qbasic.com

As far as other Internet Browsers for DOS, There is NetTamer but Arachne, in my opinion, is a much better graphical browser.

http://www.arachne.cz

There are a number of other Text based DOS browsers but I would guess that you want the Graphic one.

I run Arachne on 2 different computers, one is a 486DX250 with 8 Meg of RAM, the other is a 486DX266 with 32 Meg of RAM.

I got a stupid question. If you got a 486DX 66, why aren't your trying to connect using Windows 3.1 or even 95 (it will be slow)? You can get a 16 bit version of IE and connect to the web under Windows. You're not going to be able to do much with a dos program anyway, and the graphics wont be any good.

Arachne will run very well (but again, will not run with a WinModem). The graphics will render as well as your video card can handle. It will run on a 286 computer with a 1200 baud modem so it should do very well on your computer. The download is less than 1 meg. Add on packages can be downloaded after it is running. It can be used as a graphical user interface. Will make webpages. Has an ftp upload manager. Contains it's own modem drivers. Comes with all the help files that it needs. - They should be read at some point in time to get the most out of Arachne. You will find links to the world of Dos and other Dos browsers on my home page.
