Hi there!
I'm having some problems. When I run a DOS proggy in Windows 98, my internet connection kinda "crashes". It just stops working, and when I click 'refresh' in WINIPCFG I get a 169.xx.xxx.xxx IP. To get back the connection, I have to reboot. This always happens as soon as I run a DOS programme. What could it be?? This is incredibly annoying :( My specs:

Do you have any real mode drivers running? Are your bindings legacy free? do you have anything relating to network settings in autoexec.bat, startnet.bat? Are you running real mode NIC drivers? are you using a 16 bit NIC? If any of these things are true, this is the problem. DOS command.com uses 16 bit shared memory space on Win98. Therefore any real mode drivers can collide with what you are doing in DOS. Otherwise, I would still update my NIC drivers, and be certain you are not running any bindings that you have no need for, such as IPX, netbeui, dial-up adapters, vpn connectors, aol crap, and the like.
