Comment: First of all, a big thank you to MaxMaxUSB and others who posted such useful stuff on USB and DOS. They've spent a lot of time and effort. Much appreciated. Next, does anyone have ideas how to go about hooking up a SCSI linked HP scanner in DOS? Can anything be squeezed out of HP's scanner software CDs? Drivers? Software? I've seen some old postings, but no responses. Did I miss them? So - there we go - DOS and scanners: How to do? Rod S.

Reply: (edit)Colour Scanners require TWAIN drivers which have only been written for W3.x/NT4 and later. Early Black & White scanners had DOS drivers but were attached to a dedicated ISA Card, but are not easy to source second-user. Maybe you could write an interface driver as SCSI cards have good support under DOS??

Reply: (edit)Thanks for info 4004, even if it was negative. I'll look for the B & W drivers, but it'll need software too, to handle control codes, etc. I think it's beyond me to write driver. But I'm sure someone, somewhere, knows how to fix up scanner. Note to anyone else who has idea: I'll be in the bush (Sikkim) for the next two/three weeks - probably won't be able to respond. Meanwhile, thanks for any ideas. Rod S.
