Comment:

Having run DOS (on win 98) from the start/run/dosprmpt, I changed directory to FTP I then (stupidly) closed the window and returned to windows. Now whenever I try to run dos through the 'dosprmpt' command I get an error message that states: "cannot find the file ftp" and it wont let me back into dos. Strange thing is that if I restart the computer in DOS mode it runs fine, any help...?

What happens if you go START>RUN and type COMMAND.COM?
Look in C:\Windows\STARTM~1\programs. Copy MS-DOS~1.PIF somewhere and look at the copy with EDIT. You will see some little music like notes, but do you also see C:\Windows\Command.Com? Unless this changed I have no idea what you did.
