Hi,

I am attempting to build a quick batch to copy and register some DLLs. But when I try to copy the files to "%windir%\downloaded program files" it fails with TOO MANY PARAMETERS. I know that it is because of the folder name having spaces in it, is there a way around this?

To create a long folder name with spaces at a command prompt, use quotation marks as in the following example:

c:\>md "This is a Directory"

In this case, both operating systems create one folder with the long file name "This is a Directory."

"use quotation marks as in the following example"

What exactly is your OS? DOS 6.22 or Win 2000? Note that you cannot use quotation marks in DOS 6.22!

If its a case of wanting to use a MS-DOS 6.22 Bootdisk:

Its not just that your folder name has spaces in it. 'DOWNLOADED PROGRAM FILES' has 24 characters & spaces in it, and MS-DOS 6.22 can only handle 8!

You need to use a MS-DOS 7.10 or DR-DOS 8.0 Bootdisk with Long Filename Support.

If all you need is a Bootdisk I have a MS-DOS 7.10 one on my PowerLoad Bootdisk Project Page, or look for Wengers

Or take a look at Wengier's site @

If however it is a differant problem, Please make your post a little clearer

Well, the title for his post is really invalid, and there are better forums for his question.
