I have a PC with DOS 6.22 as the O.S. and other PC's with Windows98 O.S. The PC's are connected on the network in a peer to peer way, i.e. no PC is a SERVER all PC's are connected through the hub. I have installed the Microsoft Client for DOS V3.0 on the PC with DOS O.S. After the network software is installed on the DOS PC I restart the PC at one place i searches for a DHCP server using TCP/IP protocol. It does'nt get any such server so the DOS PC does not get connected with other PC's. Please suggest some solution.

Balaji, I think you know your stuff when it comes to networks (from reading your post) but even I do sometimes go to the following site for tips and information on something I might have missed or forgot to due.
Yes, it also has DOS networking.

Hi;
The software you are using is Good :). The only problem is that it may not be configured properly. ... Do it manually as follows:
1. Set static IPs on all of the machines.
2. When you boot up with your dos machine type the following at prompt:
net use z: \\computer name\share nameMake sure that the path is set to directory where net use command is located. And note that computer name spelling and share name spelling is crucial.
After this type in
z:\Z: - has been mapped to a network share on another computer. You can browse the shared directory now.

If you are connecting peer to peer searching for a DHCP server using TCP/IP protocol will not work because DHCP is a function of a windows server that assigns an IP address to a Cient automatically. Try Ping of the static IP address that you have assigned to each machine from the other to see if they are talking to one an other before you do anything else.

You need to modify protoini.tmp which creates protocol.ini on startup with the ip for your network ie:
[TCPIP]
NBSessions=6
DefaultGateway0=192 168 234 129
SubNetMask0=255 255 255 128
IPAddress0=192 168 234 202
DisableDHCP=1
DriverName=TCPIP$
BINDINGS=%netcard%
LANABASE=0
