If you are booting from a floppy, make sure the disk is the correct format for the drive. For example, a 3 1/2 inch disk formatted as 1.44mb will not work in a 3 1/2 inch 720 kb floppy drive.

Most systems aren't too particular about which version of dos is used to boot with.
Other possibilities are a bad bootdisk or trying to use a disk without system files on it, a bad drive, loose cables, power problems, or a drive type incorrectly set in the bios.

I was boot 6.22 ver. in my 486 pc.After booting I can saw on the screen "Drive not ready","Insert Boot disk".If I use another disk massege is Non-system disk or disk error",replace and press any key.Is that mechanical fault? or not?.
