Display files with extension

Subject: Display files with extension
OS: DOS
CPU/Ram: Pentium
Comment:
create one file file with the extension "txtddd" and give the command "dir /*.txt"

This file also will be displayed by the command.
I don't want the file with the extension "txtddd" be listed by the command "dir /*.txt".
I want to display the files only with the extension "txt".

But if the txtddd has TXT (like it does) then automatically anything with an extension, with txt in it will show. also why did you give it an extension of TXTDDD?

The are no 6 char extensions in DOS.

DOS file names are 8.3; in other words:

filename.ext

And this:

dir /*.txt

is not a viable command.

Is this some homework assignment gone horribly wrong? Or what?

Depending on the version of DOS [you didn't say] you may get help with:

dir /?

OR

help dir

If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.

I would have pointed that out myself about the 8.3 but i thought well maybe that person is using a hacked version of dos or something, tho it did confuse me when he said about txtddd. Why would you give it something that goofy anyway, even if you could do it.
