Comment: where can i get defrag.exe that came with msdos 6.22 ? if i use it with msdos 7.10 by loading setver, and locking the drive concerned with the lock command, will it cause any unpredictable results and / or damage to the hard disk? ( it will be used in a drive which uses ONLY 8.3 short file names )

Reply: (edit)If the drive is FAT32, it's probably a recipe for dusaster. Is there some reason to not use 7.10 defrag? If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.M2

Reply: (edit)Is there REALLY a. 7.00 or 7.10 defrag.exe? That would seem like a Christmas present! Please, mechanix2go, drop us a line on where such a utility should be found...

Reply: (edit)Defrag for DOS 6.22 will work on a FAT32 most of the time, but it destroys all of your long file names. For example, it will change "My Background Image.jpg" to MYBACK~1.JPG. And most of the time, Windows 98 will be screwed up after that. It will load, but you'll get some annoying messages at boot.
