dbase 3 plus

Comment:
I am still running dbase 3 under win 98 because it does a particular job better than anything else I have tried.
The problem is that I want to keep my data in a separate subdirectory and cannot get it to run when I set it up that way. It used to work under DOS but now, I have to keep my data and program in the same subdirectory.
I have tried editing config.db but it still does not work properly. Can someone please tell me how to set this up properly? Thanks

Not sure, but, some old dos programs write the environment variables to their config files, so make sure the config file(s) are not read-only. And you could put a path statement in the autoexec.bat file if you haven't already. One that has all your data directories in it :-)

Summary: WordStar is NOT available for free or paid download! However, if you search www.ebay.com for WordStar you will often find unwanted copies being sold. You could also try ebay for dBase too. Regards Mik...
Summary: I have read that Microsoft has gone to great lengths to ensure that many of the old DOS programs will run on XP. I think specifically of dBASE III PLUS and 5. Does anyone know if this is true or not?...
