I am trying to create a basic dos boot disk that will boot up a machine and connect to a share on a Windows 2000 server in a Win2K native mode domain. The boot sequence works fine (loads drivers, ect.) up until the logon when I get a message that "You have been logged on but have not been validated by a server. You may not have access to some resources." Then when I try and map a drive to a server I get "Error 53: The computer name specified in the network path cannot be located" Can anyone help?
This is what my system.ini file looks like

I have tried all of those and even a few more from MS's website. Still no luck. I am going to attempt to sniff the switch that it is plugged into to see if there is even any activity coming out of the card to try and eliminate hardware problems.
Any other ideas?

Hi
Problem is, you'r not giving it the workgroup name, you need to change the line workgroup= to workgroup=DOMAIN You are telling it what domain to log onto, but without the correct workgroup (which is the same as the domain in NT/9x/2k.XP for DOS) it wont be able to see a master browser so wont be able to see the computers on the network (including the server its trying to logon to) I use the same type of boot disk on my network to ghost images from a server on the network, you dont really need to tell it to logon to a domain - if you just stick the domain name in the workgroup=DOMAIN line, and just logon normally (ie. net logon administrator) so long as the password you use to logon is the same as the administrators (or whatever users you use) password on the server it will validate fine when you try to map a drive, but either way, you need to have the workroup=DOMAIN line...

Hello
Maybe this works...
The MS-DOS Network Client does not use DNS for Name Resolution. When you try to map a Share, the Client wanna use NetBIOS Resolution, but normaly there is no WINS Server for. So you must edit the lmhost file also includet on the floppy to bind the IP adress to the NetBIOS Name.
Hope this works..

hi ,i did as d.hugelshofer told ,but i could only visit the workstations that are installed WinMe/9X in,unfortunately i counldn't still vist the computers installed WinXp in,so who would like to tell me the why and how? thanks
