hi guys! i have multiboot options DOS and XP; in dos i have earlier used compushow 2.00' while googling i found there is a compushow904; i downloaded the zip file; extracted the contents; did a "patchcrt" fix for runtime error200; and "installed" it in the default directory "Cshow". the four major files are cshow.exe read.exe cshow.drv and setup.exe.
whne i start cshow, i get an error message saying that documentation and support files (setup.exe readme.exe and cshow.drv) should be present in the same dirctory and the program terminates.
i have individually run setup.exe (it checks the video and creates a video.cfg file) i have also run the readme.exe (it gives a documentation for reading and printing)
My `CShow904.ZIP' archive did include `CShow.EXE'/ `CSHOW.DRV', `SetUp.EXE', `ReadMe.EXE', etc. but i noticed the application was broken once UnPacked & patched... Try adding `TP7P5Fix' to `CShWin.BAT'.
dear mr bicephale, thanks for the info; i used r200fix (another runtime crt like TP7P5Fix) and i tested tp7p5fix; both worked; yours is better as i can unload it!
however, i am not sure why the patch is not working; i used patchcrt and ctbppat with monitor option to see the crt module which was patched up; i think the only reason is crc check in the original PKLITE compressed EXEs; i am trying to find the crcvalue
It's a pleasure to read that you can run CompuShow with more than one TSR helper! I tried unpacking/ patching all the executable at first then realized that if an application insists for the presence of other files it might also check its own integrity.
The issues raised by the modification of ShareWare are acknowledged on the web site i suggested and i sort of agree with the solution some very creative persons have provided: those TSRs are elegant and quite easy to use; i was just lucky to know about one of them... Good luck in your quest, have fun!
