PC-DOS known? And i wish to complete the list by ALL OEMs!
This means: which versions where sold by
COMPAQ, which by SIEMENS, which by ZENITH DATA SYSTEMS , ....................
(there are differences between the versions!)Thanks for all help.

Take a look at your other post, but from the look of your date layouts you have already been to powerload. No need to post twice you know! This would have been as well posted under your first post, without wasting space.

I'll elaberate on my last statement.
Compaq produced a variant of MS Dos 3.3 called 3.31. It overcame the 32meg hdd access barrier earlier versions had MSs first version to do this was MS Dos 4.0 then imediately replaced with 4.01 because 4 was causing a lot of problems in hdd management and other areas of compatibility with previous version(still occuring today:).Many people stuck with ver 3.3 or used DRdos untill ver 5 arrived.
Phew!! this is stretching the memory a bit lol.

Also MS client isn't Dos, it's MSs Dos network client.
The supplimental s are not versions of Dos just files MS left out of the original or that MS deamed were not needed in the distribution such as their dos Gui-Dos Shell.
Which incidently was first released with ver 4. Never relised MS produced a dos gui in '83 or was that there first attempt at windows?-I bet it was, could be wrong of course.
Impressive list though.

Impressive list indeed for a ripoff of powerloads MS-DOS timeline! MS-DOS GUI in March 1983 was indeed the first Windows BETA (Not called Windows till November 1983) Supplimental files were DOS files from earler versions that MS no longer deemed needed (till users started to ask for them)nor are step-up or upgrades DOS versions. and MS-DOS 3.31 was produced for more than one OEM, Compaq and KayPro being only two of them.
Have a look at powerloads list at -
http://www.powerload.fsnet.co.uk/timeline.htm
and tell me roman's is not a copy?

but is powerload a ripoff of http://www.computerhope.com/history/dos.htm ?
who knows LOL who cares LOL not me LOL

There may have heen verious distros of 3.31 but Compaq actually developed the code required for disks above 32 megs not M$.
As I stated MSs attempt was (ver 4) was not well accepted by the computing community.
Funny old thing.

Have you seen computerhopes times? I think not. ver 3.31 was indeed a custom version for compaq and other's But the code would have been produced inhouse at microsoft. MS-DOS 4.0 used the same code but managed to screw up the version as a whole! It was only distributed in europe not the US and was very soon replaced by ver 4.01

You left out MS-DOS 6.22. Here is something nice to know. MS-DOS 4.01 has to be entered in SETVER as VER 4.00 to work, or it may be that websites are mixing the versions up.

Romans list (From powerload timeline part 2)
March 1994 MS-DOS 6.21
April 1994 MS-DOS 6.22
May 1994 MS-DOS 7.0 BETA 2 August 1995 MS-DOS 7.0 (Win95)
September 1996 MS-DOS 7.10(Win95B-98)
April 1997 PC-DOS 7.0
April 1998 PC-DOS 2000 aka 7.1 Y2K
September 2000 MS-DOS 8.0 (Win ME)
Then what about DR-DOS ?LOL

Very impressive but could someone tel me where I can download DOS 6.22 "gratis". I have partitioned my hard-drive and whatever I do I get the message"Operating System missing". What now?

I know that ZENITH DATA SYSTEMS sold the 3.21 DOS version with his Supersport and i'm looking for it :)!!
